A healthy balance of estrogen is important for overall health and well-being. Estrogen plays a role in regulating the menstrual cycle, maintaining bone health, and promoting cardiovascular health. However, an imbalance of estrogen can lead to symptoms such as hot flashes, mood swings, and an increased risk of certain cancers. Additionally, low levels of estrogen can lead to osteoporosis and other bone-related diseases. Therefore, it is important to maintain a healthy balance of estrogen through a combination of lifestyle changes, such as a healthy diet and regular exercise, and the use of natural supplements when necessary.

Here's a list of several common natural supplement ingredients that can help rebalance your hormones, and detoxify your body from exposure to environmental xenoestrogens:

  1. DIM (Diindolylmethane) and I3C (Indole-3-carbinol) are both compounds found in cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, cauliflower, and kale. They have similar beneficial effects on estrogen metabolism and may help to support healthy estrogen levels in the body.
Both DIM and I3C promote the metabolism of estrogen into its "good" or "protective" forms, such as 2-hydroxyestrogen. Both DIM and I3C also help to regulate the activity of estrogen receptors, which can be important for estro-sensitive disease prevention. Additionally, they may help to reduce the risk of osteoporosis by promoting healthy estrogen levels and increasing bone density.

  2. Chaste tree berry, also known as vitex, is a herb that has been traditionally used to regulate hormonal imbalances and support healthy estrogen levels in the body. Chaste tree berry contains compounds that can stimulate the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and inhibit the release of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which can help to regulate the menstrual cycle and reduce symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and other menstrual-related issues. Additionally, it has been found to help balance estrogen and progesterone levels, which can help to reduce symptoms such as hot flashes, mood swings, and breast tenderness that are associated with menopause. It has also been found to have a beneficial effect on the health of the reproductive system, and may have a positive effect on the symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, and other conditions that are related to hormonal imbalances.

  3. Wasabi (commonly used in Japanese cuisine) is a natural source of isothiocyanates (ITCs), which are compounds that have been found to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Specifically, wasabi is a source of long-chain ITCs, which are a type of ITC that has been found to have beneficial effects on overall health and well-being. Some studies have suggested that long chain ITCs may help to reduce the risk of estrogen-dependent breast cancer, by inhibiting the activity of enzymes that can promote cancer cell growth.

  4. White button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) contains compounds that have been found to have anti-aromatase properties. Aromatase is an enzyme that converts androgens into estrogens. Some studies have found that consuming white button mushroom may decrease the activity of aromatase enzyme, thus reducing the production of estrogen, which can be beneficial in cases of estrogen dominance.  White button mushrooms also contain compounds called phytoestrogens which are plant-based compounds that mimic the function of estrogen in the body. These phytoestrogens may help to reduce symptoms such as hot flashes and mood swings that are associated with menopause.

DETOXING INGREIDIENTS:

  1. Calcium-D-glucarate is a natural compound found in some fruits and vegetables, and has been shown to have beneficial effects on estrogen metabolism and may help to support healthy estrogen levels in the body. Calcium-D-glucarate works by inhibiting beta-glucuronidase, an enzyme that can reabsorb estrogen and other toxins that have been excreted by the body. This helps to promote the excretion of these toxins.

  2. Green tea extract is rich in antioxidants, particularly a group of compounds called catechins. These catechins have been found to have a variety of health benefits, including antioxidant and detoxifying effects on the body. The catechins in green tea are powerful antioxidants that can neutralize free radicals, which are molecules that can damage cells and contribute to the development of chronic diseases. Catechins have been found to help the liver detoxify the body. Catechins can increase the production of enzymes in the liver that are responsible for breaking down and eliminating toxins from the body.  Additionally green tea catechins have been found to improve gut barrier function, which can prevent the absorption of harmful toxins and support the health of gut microbiome.

  3. Turmeric supports the detoxification of the body by supporting liver function. Turmeric contains compounds that can increase the production of enzymes in the liver that are responsible for breaking down and eliminating toxins from the body. Additionally, turmeric can help to maintain a healthy balance of gut bacteria and improve gut barrier function, which can prevent the absorption of harmful toxins. The active compound in turmeric, curcumin, has antioxidant properties that can neutralize free radicals. Turmeric may  also induce the activity of phase 2 detoxifying enzymes, which are responsible for conjugating toxins and making them water-soluble so they can be excreted from the body.

Taking a product that contains all of these ingredients would provide some comprehensive protection against environmental toxins, xenoestrogens and relief of symptoms related to estrogen imbalance.

The subject of declining of testosterone levels is a growing conversation and while much can be discussed about the causes, at least part of the decline can be attributed to natural aging.  As men approach 30 years old, their testosterone levels begin to decline at about 1% per year. This is a gradual process and while not immediately noticeable, is happening all the same and over time can be felt.

Nitrogen is an essential component of amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. When our body is in a state of positive nitrogen balance, it means we are consuming more nitrogen than we are excreting. This surplus of nitrogen allows the body to retain and utilize more protein for various processes, including muscle repair and growth.

Muscle growth occurs when the rate of protein synthesis exceeds the rate of protein breakdown in the body. A positive nitrogen balance provides the necessary foundation for this process by ensuring an abundant supply of amino acids for protein synthesis. When our body has a positive nitrogen balance, it signifies that we have enough dietary protein to support muscle repair and growth.

When it comes to building muscle, most people think of protein first. But did you know that it's not just the protein itself that's important, but the specific amino acids that make up that protein? These amino acids are the building blocks of protein, and some of them are considered "essential" because our bodies can't produce them on their own.

The 9 essential amino acids are: histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine. These amino acids cannot be synthesized by the body and must be obtained through the diet - with either whole food or supplementation.
